-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
IMPORTANT NOTE!
- - -----------------
This document informs PGP users how to verify that the files listed
below (supplied in the ZIP / Disk) originated from ChekWARE, developers
of ChekMate, and has not been tampered by a third party.
For information about PGP download the PGP package from any SimTel ftp
mirror or BBS.
If PGP has been installed and configured properly, and after you have
added the CHEKMATE.PGP public key, you can now verify the files below:
+-----------------+-----------------+
| Signature | File |
+-----------------+-----------------+
| <FileName.sig> | <FileName.ext> |
+-----------------+-----------------+
| CHEKMATE.ASC | CHEKMATE.EXE |
| CHEKWORD.ASC | CHEKWORD.DOC |
| MD5.ASC | MD5.EXE |
| SETUP.ASC | SETUP.EXE |
+-----------------+-----------------+
Type:
PGP FILENAME.SIG FILENAME.EXT
You will see something like this:
________________________________________________________________________
File has signature. Public key is required to check signature.
File 'Filename.$00 'has signature, but with no text.
Text is assumed to be in file 'Filename.ext'.
.
Good signature from user "Martin Overton <Martin@salig.demon.co.uk>".
Signature made 1995/09/29 17:48 GMT
Signature and text are separate . No output file produced.
________________________________________________________________________
Note that the information displayed may differ from this example.
However, if the phrase "Good signature from user Martin Overton"
is displayed you can be sure the file originated from Martin Overton
and (ChekWARE).
If the files are verified, then you are safe to use them.
This is an additional security check that can be used instead of the MD5
hash values given in the manual. The reason that it can be used INSTEAD,
is that PGP is more secure as a verification tool.
Martin Overton,
20th April 1996.
